A violent clash between two rival groups over a long-standing dispute related to the Ramnath Swami Sansthan broke out at Wadhona Ramnath village under Mangrul Chavhala police station limits on Saturday night, leaving eight people injured. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the village, though the situation is currently under control.
According to police sources, the dispute between the two groups revolves around the ownership and dominance of the Ramnath Swami Sansthan. The matter is presently pending before the Charity Commissioner. On Saturday night between 9 pm and 10 pm, cleaning work involving the removal of mud and water from a pond near the temple premises was underway.
During the work, Nitin Ramkrishna Gaydhani (52), who was involved in the cleaning activity, was questioned by Vinod Motiram Chaudhary (60) from the rival group over mud spreading in the surrounding area. The argument soon escalated into a heated confrontation between the two men.
Within minutes, nearly 30 to 40 people from both groups gathered at the spot and engaged in a fierce fight. Sticks, kicks, and punches were reportedly used during the assault, creating panic in the area.
The injured have been identified as Sahil Gajanan Dharmik, Ganesh Champatrao Mate, Rahul Manohar Gaydhani, Pawan Shankar Thavakkar, Ashok Rambhau Gaydhani, Amol Sahebrao Gaydhani, Shubham Vijay Bodale, and Sunil Sahebrao Yawale. Police said all injured persons are currently undergoing treatment.
After receiving information about the incident, Mangrul Chavhala police rushed to the village and brought the situation under control. Cases have been registered against members of both groups, and further investigation is underway.
