Fuel prices have once again increased, adding more pressure on the common public and daily commuters. Petrol prices have been hiked by 83 paise per litre, while diesel prices have also witnessed a significant rise in several regions. The latest increase has sparked concern among vehicle owners, transport operators, and middle-class families who are already dealing with rising inflation and higher living costs.

According to fuel dealers, the revised rates came into effect from midnight and are applicable across multiple cities with slight regional variations due to local taxes and transportation charges. In many areas, petrol prices are now nearing record levels, affecting both private and commercial transportation sectors.

Experts believe that fluctuations in international crude oil prices and changes in government taxes are the major reasons behind the continuous increase in fuel prices. The weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar has also contributed to the higher import cost of crude oil.

Citizens have expressed disappointment over the repeated hikes, stating that rising fuel costs directly impact household budgets, public transport fares, and the prices of essential goods. Social media platforms are also witnessing mixed reactions, with many users demanding relief measures from the government.

Meanwhile, transport associations have warned that if fuel prices continue to rise, transportation charges may increase further in the coming weeks. Consumers are now hoping for stability in global oil markets and possible government intervention to control the burden on the public.
